I know I’m at peace when that what I see every single day brings me the same joy as it did that very first time.

I did not grow up in Haarlem. Nor did I spend my formative years here. I moved here when I was 30 years old and ready to find a place of beauty and calm in my otherwise hectic (inner) existence. That was 14 years ago. I can’t say I’m an active member of local society, as that’s simply not the type of person I am, but I truly appreciate the beauty and versatility of the city, the exquisite nature and coastline, and the no-nonsense niceness of the people. This is how I see my home.
